One egg bhurji, two lachcha parathas a tea please

Every Saturday I make a trip to the bazaar. Walk over to the 'Golden restaurant' and order the above. It has become a staple for me, much like ' a medium coffee, three sugars and double cream' at the Tim Hortons and 'boneless chicken roti, no potatoes, no gravy' at the Island Foods at King & Dufferin. In fact I guarantee that if you were to order a roti at the Island Foods locstion in the same fashion you will be asked 'Is this for Ben?'. When I was in Toronto in Feb I had take Siddhant along with me, he could not believe that they would remember me after all these years. Well, what can I say?....
Well, I am going to miss this routine in Mussoorie and will fondly remember it in the days to come. Food has always been important for me and there are foods that I like which I do not deviate from. I guess the Accountant in me does not like variations. While in Toronto and working at the Coach, all I ever had at 'Caffinos' was 'Pasta Caffino' .... Eleven years and I never ordered anything else whenever I ate there. Gosh I am weird!!

An amazing thing happened

I have come to Dehradun to pick up Sangeeta from the airport. Since it is pretty hot outside I thought it would be good to wait inside the qarrival lounge.
Well, you need a ticket to enter and you need proof of ID. All I had with me were two credit cards and a debit cardn all showing off my name but not acceptable as photo ID. So I went up to the guards and said 'Look I don't have physical ID but I can show you a copy of my passport on Google docs?' They said alright show us.
So I went on to Google, on my Blackberry and showed them the copy of my passport, they matched the signature with the one on the back of my credit card, matched my photograph and then allowed me in ....
Needless to say I am impressed and amazed at the willingness of these guys to accept an electronic copy of my ID. Yaayyy!!

Aaaah ... that was nice

Sitting at the airport waiting for our flight to Montreal and then on to Toronto. It has been raining non stop since last night - I am so glad we are leaving.
We got back from Belgium and Luxembourg road trip on the 17th night. Yesterday we went to Rouen - the place where Joan of Arc was burnt at the steak oops stake.
Apparently it was a mis(s)stake because the church declared her innocent long after she was dead.
Nice town - very crowded and you know something after a while all the cathedrals look the same, although the church of St Joan of Arc was modern and so different from the others we have seen. It was a nice drive back & forth and then in the night we went to see the Eiffel tower again.
Let me tell you - do not see the tower during the day, it is magical during the night - we caught the last metro back home.

The driving was good - passing through the French country side was an amazing experience. The open fields, the houses they were picturesque and exactly how I had imagined they would be. Driving to Belgium and Luxembourg we took the scenic route, I got on everyone's nerves by stopping the car to take photographs ...

Well, no accidents and the car was a Mercedes C220 cdi. I am not into cars but this was a nice one. Even in Germany it was another Mercedes - I am getting used to this. The funny thing is I don't care about cars and I am getting to drive really nice ones. So now I have driven in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria and the UK ...

Looking forward to being in Toronto for the next month, it does seem weird to return with no house of our own ... one day. We do look forward to meeting up with all our friends and taking care of some personal stuff as well.

Thank you for the birthday wishes

Thank you Thank you Thank you

I have spent an hour going through all the messages and it is quite overwhelming.
I guess Facebook makes it so much easier to remember and I feel blessed to have so many of you take the time to send me a message ... you thought of me and that is absolutely amazing. Thank you !!

We got back to Paris last night, I spent my birthday in Luxembourg. Small country, cute  - nothing much to see but its pretty and we wanted to check it off our list of countries to visit.

More later ....

Blessings
Ben

Took these pictures while in the car driving down from Mussoorie to Delhi. For those of you who have a quizzical look on their faces - I wasn't the one driving.
The photographs came out nice giving an effect almost like a painting ...

Paris here we come

Sitting in the plane waiting for the gates to close and then we are off to Paris.
What a tumultuous semester this has been. We are all looking forward to having a good break after what has gone on.
We are going to be staying for a week in Paris and then renting a car and driving to Belgium, Luxembourg, Bonn and then back to Paris. Sounds exotic eh? Well, let's see how the experience unfolds.
Will write more in detail now that I am out of Woodstock's clutches....

I don't believe it ...

I attended the Junior School assembly the other day. The grade three class made a power point presentation in Open Office and I am thinking what ?????!!!!
The first time I encountered the internet was in 1997 when I was 32 years old. I made my first power point presentation (with some difficulty) when I was forty ...

It is wonderful to see what was a luxury is now the norm ... I know I know it could also be that I am slow.
